Becoming Vegetarian ; It's worth as much as we effort

As time goes by, the rate of vegetarian is increasing. A vegetarian is a person who never eats meat. They only eat vegetarian diet every day. In Germany, 14% of the German population are vegetarian. This is a fairly large proportion, so it is polite to ask if he or she is vegetarian when we meet Germans. If so, why do people choose to be a vegetarian? Most of us think that eating a vegetable dish  can improve our health. That is true, but there are numerous reasons why people should be vegetarian.

First of all, being vegetarian prevents lots of disease. When people eat fruits and vegetables, they can ingest enough vitamin, so cholesterol will become lower. Therefore they are healthier and have the longer life expectancy than general people. Furthermore, the statistics show that vegetarians have less diabetes than normal people. This is because, they don’t eat food that contains lots of sugar. They rather eat sweet fruits such as apples and bananas.

What's more surprising is that vegetarianism can benefit people regarding global warming. People are eating too much beef nowadays. However, meat consumption is the serious factor that causes global warming. Cows and pigs are emitting the large amount of gas named ‘methane’, and methane gas is 25 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. This can penetrate the atmosphere in Earth. Furthermore, the carbon dioxide also occurs whenever we roast meat. An old saying goes, “Deviation from Nature is deviation from happiness”.  Environmental problems can cause us more damage later on.

People have to accept eating vegetables as a duty, not an option. Society should encourage people to eat those eco-food.
